For some time the girls have been working on their journey to reading Arabic in order to read the Quran. Whilst their initial journey with the Quran has been with memorising short surahs, they have started to take more of an interest with knowing where the Arabic verses of surahs that they can recite with ease are, in the Quran. So at their own pace they have slowly been working through their recognition of Arabic as a language, decoding symbols, dots, shapes and making meaning of them in a language that isn’t their native one.
One of my main goals as a mama and their primary educator is to ensure they enjoy the journey more than just reaching the end goal in a rushed pace that they can’t work at. So we have taken our time. Along the way, we needed ways to encourage their learning, be it through games, through Arabic books, signs, resources and even apps.
So, I am reviewing the Quran Treasure Island App, a wonderful app that works as a great supplement alongside your child’s Quran reading Journey. Designed and created by Akeela Manekia, the girls and I love the treasure island context behind the app. It’s such a creative and fun way of learning the basics of the Arabic Language whilst working your way around a treasure island map, completing activities to collect gems and learn along the way.
Features:
The Quran Treasure Island App features 7 different levels (on a treasure map) covering many of the important rules we need to know in order to read the Quran including, the Arabic Alphabet, joining letters, the vowels, long vowels or madd, sakin rules, shaddah and more! Your children work their way through unlocking each level in order to earn 30 gems until they reach the final Quran Treasure. There are a number of activities in each level that your children can keep coming back to. In the final level, the Quran Treasure level, your children get to earn unlimited gold coins for each of the verses they practise to read in the Quran. You can easily self-check if you recited the verse correctly by using the play button options too.
The app context, graphics and quality is of a very good standard. It’s AD-FREE and safe for children. It’s bright engaging treasure island context makes it appealing for kids! It’s definitely a fun way of learning Arabic for the Quran and at a bargain price too. More on the pricing option below.

VERDICT:
We love this app, it’s a fun way to begin your child’s Quran journey alongside their traditional Qaida too. My girls enjoy collecting the gems and the candy songs to help them understand the vowels. It’s a great app to include as a supplement to your child’s Quran learning Journey especially from a young age! Here’s what my girls had to say:
“I like the candy!” (Hibah, aged 5)
“I like the dentist activity when I type the English words that I read in Arabic!” (Ammarah, aged 7)
