Download this fab story – My Name is Barakah in time for Black History Month and teach your children about the important people in the life of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).
This original short story written by myself, is all about a young girl making sense of her identity in a world where everyone is so different. In an attempt to fit in, or understand who you are, it’s important to consider your roots. One of our children’s rights upon us as their parents is that we name them well. So in this story, a young girl Barakah learns more about who she is named after – Barakah Umm Ayman (ra).
This story is ideal for children aged 6-8. It can be great as a read aloud for younger children, but perfect for independent readers. It includes a list of comprehension questions at the end too.
