Hello and Salaam!

I’m Hafsa, a former Primary School Teacher turned Homeschooling Mama teaching my three beautiful and highly entertaining girls – 11 year old Ammarah, 9 year old Hibah and our nearly 2 year old, Nusaybah Alhamdulillah. We are from the UK and started our homeschool journey in the blessed city of Makkah, Saudi Arabia. Our journey in Makkah came to an end in 2023 as we moved back to England Alhamdulillah.

If you have been following our story for some time, you will be seeing a brand new website. We revamped and upgraded so our members can enjoy a great new and easier user experience.

Mama Teaches Me Back Story

What started off as our personal blog which followed our journey through homeschooling in Saudi Arabia, has now turned into a creative space for me to share teaching / learning tips and resources I use with my own children and make available to you through our shop.

The Resources

As much as we loved living in Saudi Arabia, many a time we are short on resources including books, printables. A lot of the time we can get quite creative and recycle and just use what we have. Many a time, I’ve found I’ve had to create alternative Islamic Resources so they are accessible to my girls. One of our first major projects which actually began this journey to start creating digital resources was The Seerah Project. We spent nearly a year on refining this Project. After all, how will our children follow a sunnah or understand the religion unless they know about the Greatest Man who ever lived – Prophet Muhammad (SAW). And so began my journey to design resources for our creative Islamic learning.

The Books

Over the years, I managed to collate together my much loved and popular resources into published books – Alhamdulillah! Starting with My First Guide to Umrah published in 2022, followed by My First Ramadan Journal – published 2023 and My First Hajj Activity Book – also published 2023. We also managed to organise a community project to release Palestine: An Anthology of Poems featuring poems submitted by children and adults from across the globe – with a 100% profits to Palestinians in need.

Our latest release is the much awaited The Seerah Project. It all started with our wonderful trips to Madinah when my eldest girls were only 4 and 2. They were curious to know what was special about Madinah and became interested in who the Prophet (SAW) was! After 6 long years, I’ve finally managed to publish the final book – The Seerah Project in 2024 for children aged 5-10 years of age!

The Mission

For us, we don’t teach Islam as a subject – instead we try to nurture Islam into our way of life so our children are grounded in who they are from a young age. There are so many ways our children can access their faith, but sometimes we might find age-inappropriate resources, or stories with difficult language or Islamic concepts that are introduced way too early. And so I, Hafsa @mamateachesme (as many of you know me like this) am on this mission to create accessible, fun creative digital resources for Muslim Kids (primarily) available online and easy to download wherever you are in the world – because I know this struggle too!

The Blog

The blog section itself is full of blogposts dating back to 2017 starting with me sharing my own approach to homeschooling by creating and applying my own curriculum weaving Quran and Islamic Studies into our daily learning as well. Along the way, I created a Youtube Series called Tuesday Teaching Tips – the girls decided it should be called Mama’s Teaching Tips instead! Essentially I’ve taken what I learnt from my Primary School Teaching and now Homeschooling and Parenting journey and incorporated it into our homeschool.

Other Stuff

It’s all great knowing about the blog and resources – but I thought you might like to know a few fun facts about us. So the girls and I LOVE our Arts and Crafts, baking, Quran and all things History, hiking and travelling. Ammarah loves all things baking, swimming and roller blading - she also likes to read! Hibah loves all things creative, horses, lego and doesn’t go anywhere without her teddy Monkey. Nusaybah is adventurous and always up for exploring through all our drawers at the moment. 😄

That’s pretty much it from us for now. Thank-you so much for stopping by.

Share something about yourself below – we would love to get to know you!
